Excel Exercises
EducationInteractive Excel practice in the browser with a Premium subscription
What it does
Interactive Excel practice site in the browser: lessons with spreadsheet simulations for functions (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, SUMIF, pivot tables) and shortcuts, with an AI coach, downloadable files and a LinkedIn certificate. Freemium with a monthly/annual Premium subscription. Founder Jake Shimota stated on Starter Story (2026-10-28) that it bills $30–35K per month with ~2,500 active subscribers.
Who it is for
Recent graduates, people changing careers or preparing for interviews, and professionals who want to be faster in Excel; also teachers, with free access for their students.
Why it can be replicated
Learning by doing
Interactive in-browser simulations instead of videos; it can be replicated for other tools (Google Sheets, SQL, Figma shortcuts).
Minimal stack
HTML/CSS/JS + Firebase + Stripe Checkout are enough for a sellable product.
SEO and educational backlinks
Free access for schools and NGOs in exchange for links improves organic ranking.

~2,500 active paying subscribers stated by the founder in the Starter Story interview, with billing of $30–35K/month. A statement, not verified.
The reference mentions Starter Story. This does not certify this listing’s figure.
View financial evidence- Founder's statement via the Starter Story interview (2026-10-28): 'currently making 30 000 to 35 000 a month'; last 4 weeks 'a little over 30 000 in revenue'; ~50,000 visitors; ~2,500 active paying subscribers; doubled the monthly price; growth through paid ads. This is monthly billing, used as an MRR reference.
- No direct post by the founder on X and no TrustMRR listing (/startup/excelexercises and /startup/excel-exercises → 404, 2026-10-30).
- Growth: an earlier Starter Story page (2024-12-24) said '$4-6k per month'.
- Pricing: the Premium page (excelexercises.com/premium.html, seen 2026-10-30) does not show the price publicly (it loads at checkout). pricing.from=10 comes from a Reddit user (2025) who mentioned $10/month, before the founder doubled the monthly price: probably outdated reference (needs_review).
- Website (observed): '250,000+ registered users | 50+ partner organizations'; 69 Premium lessons listed; LinkedIn certificate; 100% refund.
- Stack: the premium.html HTML loads Firebase (app/auth/firestore) and js.stripe.com (observed). Starter Story lists Stripe, PushOwl and Firebase; a third-party article (biggo) cites GCP hosting <$100/month and SendGrid $35/month. LLM API is suggested (AI coach mentioned).
No comparable history available. Growth and ARPU are not estimated from different periods.
