Animos
DesignBrowser editor that turns static designs into looping showcase videos
What it does
Animos is a browser-based editor where designers pick one of 25 looping motion templates, drop in their images or videos, adjust settings and export an MP4 or WebM video. Rendering runs entirely in the browser from 720p up to 8K in six aspect ratios, and projects never leave the user's device. Export at 720p is free, and unlimited HD exports cost $9/month (prepaid tokens are offered in Indonesia).
Who it is for
Designers, indie makers, marketers and small agencies who want polished motion clips of their UI, app or brand work for Instagram, Dribbble, Behance and launch posts without learning After Effects.
Why it can be replicated
Client-side render is a known pattern
Canvas/WebGL animation plus browser video encoding (WebCodecs or ffmpeg.wasm) exports MP4/WebM without a render server, which keeps infra costs near zero.
Narrow, template-driven product
The product surface is a template picker, a media drop zone, a few parameters and an export button; the value sits in the motion presets, not in a complex editor.
Simple freemium gate
Free 720p with unlimited edits and a flat subscription for HD export is a clean upgrade trigger that maps directly onto a Polar or Stripe plan.
MVP in 6 weeks
Replication estimate; does not describe the product’s actual development.
Render engine
Canvas/WebGL scene runner with seamless-loop timing · Image/video layer input with fit/crop controls
Export pipeline
Frame-exact MP4/WebM export in the browser (WebCodecs, ffmpeg.wasm fallback) · Aspect ratios 16:9, 1:1, 4:5, 9:16
Template pack v1
6–8 looping showcase templates (device mockups, card stacks, parallax scroll) · Per-template parameters (speed, background, shadow)
Editor UX
Template gallery with live previews · Local-only project state (IndexedDB), no upload
Accounts + billing
Free 720p export, account required to export · Subscription for 1080p/4K export via Polar or Stripe
Launch content
Showcase reels for Instagram/Behance · Landing page with real exports and template previews
Scoped 6-week MVP: 6–8 templates, browser export up to 4K and one HD subscription. A 25-template library, 8K export and regional token payments are deferred; motion-design quality of the templates is the real bottleneck, so Ease stays at 6.

Ways to differentiate
- 1
Observable gaps: no team workspace, cloud library or brand kit
Animos keeps projects only in the browser (no saved projects, per its FAQ) and has a single $9/month Pro plan. A clone can add an optional cloud project library, reusable brand kits (logo, colors, end card) and an agency seat plan, which repeat-use designers and studios need.
- 2
Catalog contrast: motion showcase editor, not an image or render API
Catalog siblings solve different jobs: Bannerbear and Orshot are template APIs for automated image/PDF/video generation at volume, and Chartshot is an AI chart-analysis app. Animos is a manual, no-code motion editor for one-off portfolio and launch clips, so the clone should compete on motion presets and export UX, not on an API.
- 3
ICP wedge: App Store and launch preview videos
Package templates for App Store/Play Store preview videos and Product Hunt/launch reels in the exact required sizes and durations, starting from screenshots or a URL, aimed at indie developers who today use generic templates.
- 4
Market + i18n: Spanish/Portuguese templates and creators
Animos is English-only; a Spanish/Portuguese-BR editor with localized text-overlay templates (correct accents and fonts) and tutorials targeted at LatAm designers and agencies who present work on Instagram and Behance.
- 5
Regional payments: Mercado Pago/Pix prepaid HD packs
Animos already sells prepaid tokens in Indonesia (IDR) alongside a USD card subscription; a clone can apply the same model in LatAm with Mercado Pago and Pix prepaid HD-export packs at local prices.
